if it’s relatively thin and made of something like aluminum then there really isn’t any point to pre-heating it.
If it's just an aluminum or other thin metal pizza pan you don't ever need to preheat that.
I like this method because I can build the pizza in the pan and preheat the pan on the stove and then bake in the oven.
These can be used as pizza stone.
