What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Produces crispy, well-cooked pizzas
Haven't used my stones since I got the Lodge.
In my experience, they perform better than pizza stones.
Wow, your post reminds me that I have one of those in storage from about 20years ago. Back then I ju
Switched back to cast iron and it was always better.
Great value compared to alternatives
Why aren't these recommended more often? They're about the price of a nice pizza stone, and far cheaper than the recommended pizza/baking steels.
Sometimes the cashiers there would give you deals on heavy items, so I'm not sure if she missed a digit or cut me a break, but it was a steal, either way.
I should have made an exception for this.
Durable and reliable design
I’ve used it for years now and love it with no issues.
Versatile for multiple cooking methods
Most used Cast Iron I own.
Rapid, even heating performance
Only took 4 min to cook the bottom.
Superior crust quality compared to pizza stones
This pan probably makes a better crust than most pizza stones would.
Generous pan size is appreciated
I saw one of those pans at the store today and was surprised just how big they are.
every time I look at it I'm still taken aback by the size of it.
Exceptional heat retention for repeated use
It’s awesome. Burned the roof of my mouth!
Produces well‐cooked, versatile pizzas
I've never used a stone but the pan does deep and thin crust fine.
Effective parchment paper method improves pizza transfer
I have the same Lodge pizza pan and use the parchment paper method every time. Works great.
So you leave it on the parchment paper the whole time on the pizza pan?
Yep, works great! Haven't noticed it affecting the bake at all.
If you don’t have a pizza peel to slide the pizza onto the stone or steel, roll out the pizza on a piece of parchment paper.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Minor quality issues (factory pitting)
It is a factory second because of some minor pitting.
Requires extra maintenance/care
Just maybe a touch more care is needed with the latter.
Risk of warping and uneven heating when used on stovetop
It's basically a disclaimer in terms of intended use of the product.
I would guess is that the not for stovetop use, so that if someone cracks an egg on it and it runs off the side and catches fire on the burner lodge is safe from being sued.
That is unless there is no lip to prevent dripping.
Challenging pizza transfer due to rimless, low rim design
the sides will give you a hard time getting your pizza onto it.
the raised edges would make it difficult and frustrating at best.
Heavy weight makes handling and storage challenging
I have one in storage but it is heavy.
Parchment paper can wrinkle, complicating dough handling
The parchment kept wrinkling and made rolling the dough out a PITA.

Discussion on design variations
the pan I have is, all day, better than a pizza stone IMO.
Debate on ideal pizza baking equipment (cast iron vs pizza stone)
I'd take a CI griddle over a pizza stone unless I felt I had something like a pizza *oven* that warranted having more specific equipment.
Material comparison: iron vs steel debate
you won't get any better results from cast iron because you're used to it, or because half the internet thinks it's literally Jesus.
Iron vs steel is really only a tiny bit of carbon in the metal.

The nonstick, with the holes? I love mine.
Absolutely agree. I love the pizza pan with holes!
nonstick with holes??

Cautionary Callouts

General discussion of pizza baking tools
Cast Iron Pizza Pan: medium cost, durable. Good entry level option.
It's much better and doesn't absorb spills.
Mind sharing the cost and where you bought it?
Measure and re-measure, don't just eyeball the size of your countertop oven before setting off to buy a pizza dish.
Media and pop culture references influencing pizza making
Coincidently, I just rewatched an episode of Struggle Meals where the host used a cast iron pan as a pizza stone.
Dishwasher misuse experiment mentioned
$20 says they ran it through the dishwasher on the pots and pans cycle and left it sit overnight.
