The more you use it the better it will get, try baking some biscuits or other high fat items on it to really season it well.
Oh. And it's perfectly normal for it to discolor and look disgusting.

Mine is around 10 years old and it’s black.
Try sanding it! I know it sounds weird but some 320 grit with a spray bottle and a little bit of dawn will completely reface the stone to original shape.
Ours is around 10-15 years old and solid black.
