The Ninja KT200 Precision Temperature Electric Kettle is a high-performance kettle designed to quickly boil water for a variety of beverages, including tea and coffee. With a 1500-watt power output and a 7-cup capacity, it offers one-touch presets for different types of tea and a manual temperature control option for custom brewing. Consumer sentiment around the Ninja KT200 is overwhelmingly positive, particularly praising its fast boiling time with users noting that it can boil a cup of water in as little as 90 seconds. Many users appreciate the temperature control feature, stating that it allows for precise brewing, with one user mentioning, "You can set it to 200F for coffee, the speed is just a bonus." However, some concerns were raised about the potential leaching of plastic components into the water, highlighting the importance of careful usage. Overall, the Ninja KT200 is highly recommended for anyone in the market for an electric kettle. Its combination of speed, precision, and ease of use make it a strong contender in its category, despite minor concerns regarding plastic components.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Fast boiling time
This, I have a kettle from Amazon that boils water in 2 minutes. That's way faster than my stove.
Yea my electric kettle is half the time than boiling on stove at full temp.
My US electric kettle that is 10 years old boils water waaaayyy faster than my big gas stove. Not even close.
it was actually faster.
Temperature control feature
You also have temp control. I got an electric kettle so I can set it to 200F for coffee, the speed is just a bonus
Speed doesn’t matter to me.
You can brew loose leaf tea or teabags and it leaves plenty of room for the tea to expand.
Convenience and ease of use
Yeah, what's a minute or two more? Also, when I'm boiling water in the electric kettle, and I'm doing something around the house and hear the "click", I can just reheat it after I'm done doing what I'm doing (like on the toilet). And it just takes a minute to reboil it if I get back to it soon after
Nah it's mind boggling.
Have same one. Love it. A tip aside from the mentioned descaling: remove the plastic filter near the spout. The plastic definitely leaches into hot water. You can taste it. Removing it doesn't do anything functionally to the water pouring and saves you from consuming more plastic. This is actually my second one. I think they may have changed the material.
The ninja one is my absolute favorite, super versatile and easy to clean
Variety of temperature options
It has like 5 or 6 different temperature options
the temperature choice is key for tea drinkers
User satisfaction with the product
I really like it and have been impressed at the speed it heats up.
Precision temperature control
I’ll bet many of you have an easier setup, like a kettle with temperature control.

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about electric kettles not being common in the US
Americans don't have kettles? What do they use instead?
It really boggles my yuro mind that those are not part of basic kitchen appliances in the us
Tbh I thought electric tea kettles were common? I use mine for French press coffee.
Some do, some dont. Mostly in the country people use gas, in the city its more electric.
Interest in temperature display options (Celsius/Fahrenheit)
Can it be celcius or farenheit?
It can switch between them, yes!

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about creating a makeshift taser from a kettle
Made a taser from a broken electric kettle this morning
That looks like a “death stick” that you made from a kettle this morning.
This would be perfect for defending an outlet at the airport!
I mean it will trip a breaker anywhere you plug it in
Discussion about steep time for tea brewing
Most electric kettles these days have temperature options however when you mention steep time, are you intending on brewing it inside the kettle?
Discussion on alternative kettles and features
The cosori temperature select is nice. I like the gooseneck for tea pots with smaller lids or when going for a specific ratio gongfu brewing.
For tea, the Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp is excellent (details video on reddit [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ShoulditDIY/comments/1eq7p3q/shouldit_kettle_series_video_unboxing_the/)). A gooseneck isn't necessary for tea but offers more control if you decide to try pour-over coffee later.
Discussion about various kettle brands and features
Works great for tea too.
As long as the temp is correct, it's not like it makes a difference.
It’s also the only one I could find that gets low enough for gyokuro.
Very simple design and exact temp control.
Community suggestions for other kettle brands
I think this [COSORI] is a popular choice.
I love my zojirushi. Been going strong since 2009, and they sell replacement parts.
I use the brewista v-spout.
Yes, I have this one too. Absolute workhorse.

Discussion about boiling water methods
YSK Electric Kettles in North America are Slow (In Comparison) Why YSK: In case you are used to using an electric kettle in Europe, which is very common and considering buying one in North America.
For pasta I usually fill the pot halfway and start it heating to boil and turn on the kettle at the same time - they’ll both boil at the same time and I’ll add the kettle water to the pot then add the pasta.
It's like 90 slower than a 240v kettle and like 5 whole minutes faster than a stovetop kettle. lmao.
To be even more correct, we don't boil tea in an electric kettle, we boil the water, and then add it to a teapot with tea.
Concerns about electric kettles in North America
Frankly the 120v ones are so fast anyways.
I use an electric kettle and I have no issue with it.
Discussion about cleaning methods for kettles
I've already tried washing it out with hot soapy water, but this picture is what I still have left.
Vinegar works best. Happens to my kettle quite often.
Discussion about descaling methods
put a little bit of vinegar and set it to heat... when it gets reasonably hot just swirl it around and it removes all the scale in seconds.
yes, any acid will work. if you're concerned about flavor, you can use lemon juice as well

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about safety when using the kettle
What exactly are you doing with it? If you’re planning on dropping it into the bath with you I’d recommend not, that’s really not a good way to go that’s if it even manages to dispatch you in the first place which it probably won’t.
PSA: Most Brits boil tea in an ELECTRIC kettle. Not the stove. Not the microwave. Other than in exceptional circumstances, please stop saying that your British character uses the stove to boil water, I don’t think I can take it anymore!
As an American, I find it horrifying that so many people make tea that way.
Concerns about safety and mold in kettles
Why did I let myself worry so long about this haha I have vinegar sitting like 2 feet away from my kettle 😂 thanks again.
Concerns about noise when boiling
Does it make a noise when it boils?
It beeps when it’s done, but it’s not a super annoying beep. It doesn’t really whine or anything from the steam.
Discussion about heated plastic and its impact on tea flavor
I remember reading a while ago that things like heated plastic can have negative impacts on tea flavor on top of it just not being good for you in general.
