Snoop's Take

The BAYKA French Press Coffee Maker 34 Ounce is a stylish coffee brewer built with borosilicate glass and stainless steel, designed to deliver a pure, sediment-free coffee experience. It combines a 4-level filtration system with a modern, portable design that caters to both home and on-the-go coffee enthusiasts. User feedback, however, reveals a stark contrast to its polished exterior. Critics have repeatedly mentioned safety issues with phrases like, 'Had a 7 month old glass BAYKA burst (filter was clean) and was just lucky the scalding water missed me me by inches.' The recurring theme of shattering and fragility hardly aligns with the product's promises, casting serious doubt on its durability despite its appealing filtration and design features. In conclusion, while the BAYKA French Press impresses on looks and coffee quality, persistent durability concerns make it a questionable choice for those valuing both style and long-term reliability in their kitchen gadgetry.

It’s like $20 on Amazon but I’ve heard many stories of them shattering. Including from people I know.

BAYKA French Press shattering concern

Don’t need to go crazy spending but trying to avoid anything like that.
BAYKA French Press shattering/chipping concern
Had a 7 month old glass BAYKA burst (filter was clean) and was just lucky the scalding water missed me me by inches.
Amazon is plagued with cheap junk.
My question is did you preheat and it still shattered?

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Stainless steel French presses offer durability and retain heat better
Added bonus for not being able to break it.
Don't know why I bothered with glass all those years, it is such a no-brainer!
Metal French presses offer superior durability
Yes, and it tastes way better than drip IMO. Get a stainless steel one.
It's probably out of production but Ikea used to sell a big, double wall stainless French press that earned the approval of the Alpha Weird Coffee Person, James Hoffman.
Stainless steel & an electric kettle for heating water is the way to go.
I prefer a metal French press, some are double walled it keeps the coffee hotter for longer.
Aesthetic appeal of French press imagery
Wow I love the mood of this!!
I love the taste of this!
This is beautiful. You captured the reflections off the metal very well!

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Invest in a burr grinder to improve extraction and reduce sediment
But damn, I like it. And she's more of a coffee person than I am.
Well worth the effort, time, and money.
Its the equivalent of 1zpresso j max with half the price!
There's little variance in quality and design among French presses
They're all the same.
Whatever time you spend trying to decide between different french presses is probably better spent just making coffee with any of them.
Recommended French press brewing methods
I don't use my french press all that often I have to be in the right mood for it.
i never get bad coffee with it when i use my french press plus its not too complex for beginners.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
No taste difference between cheap and expensive French presses
I’ve had a basic Bodum that I found at a discount store for $8 years ago and it’s still kicking strong.
Co-sign this.
I see no difference between that one and my old Kona or Bodum presses.
Sediment and fines are inevitable in French press coffee
You probably have to replace the screen, there should never be grounds in your cup from a french press.
You will always have fines in FP coffee, no matter how fine the mesh is. It just will never be fine enough to catch the dust.
Dust/silt is fine, but he said grounds which is why I suggested replacing the screen.
Grounds, no. But you'll most likely have silt.
Cleaning convenience varies among French press designs
Fucking hate cleaning my french press.
I like that I can "shit" the coffee straight into my travel mug, and there's almost no cleanup, just eject the puck-o-grounds into the compost/trash.
French press offers simplicity compared to Aeropress for beginners
With French press, dump grounds, dump water, wait, press and pour. It is more idiot proof.
I’d recommend a French Press, as it’s uncomplicated, and if you have a moka pot and love lattes, you can use a French press to froth your milk.
Saves money compared to buying coffee daily
As a regular coffee drinker, I can't tell you how much money this French press has saved me.
The thing about these are not only will you be saving money as opposed to buying a coffee everyday, but it is sooo much better! If done right it’s so rich and smooth

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Glass French presses are fragile
Anybody who claims they can taste the difference between a $10 French press and a $100 model, using the same brew method, is probably lying.
I've broken so many glass ones, but I just like being able to see the coffee inside :(
I've had two glass Bodum french presses which broke extremely easily while cleaning.
Dropped the darn thing and broke it!
Safety and performance concerns when using a stainless steel french press on the stove
You'll end up with milk solids stuck to the bottom and that is no good.
Assuming that it's a double wall, it will take forever to heat the milk. You may be able to drill a hole between the inside/outside layers, fill with water, and create a double boiler, which actually might work pretty well.
