Its insulated double-walled construction ensures that your coffee stays hot for longer, making it perfect for home, office, or outdoor use. Consumers have praised the Mueller French Press for its durability and heat retention, with one user stating, "it keeps your coffee hot forever." Additionally, many appreciate its ease of cleaning, with reports of it being dishwasher safe and easy to disassemble. However, some users have raised concerns about the potential for grounds in the coffee if not used correctly, and a few found the coffee to be too thick for their taste. Overall, the MuellerLiving French Press Coffee Maker is highly recommended for those seeking a robust, durable, and easy-to-use coffee brewing method, especially for those who value heat retention and portability.

I bought an insulated Stainless Steel FP that'll double as a thermos after pressing, it keeps coffee hot so well.

Positive Feedback

You probably have to replace the screen, there should never be grounds in your cup from a french press.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Keeps coffee hot for a long time
I bought an insulated Stainless Steel FP that'll double as a thermos after pressing, it keeps coffee hot so well.
Love my stainless steel French press! Don't know why I bothered with glass all those years, it is such a no-brainer! Coffee stays hot, the press doesn't break and it's easy to clean.
It keeps your coffee hot forever.
Seems pretty solid, & retains heat nicely.
Durable and break-resistant
The insulated steel one goes camping with me, and is 10+ years old.
The only real difference I ever noticed in use, besides the durability? You'll likely want to preheat them before use, because they do tend to absorb a lot more heat.
Once decided I would let my French press finish brewing in the car on my drive to work. As I was getting my son into the car I forgot to do one thing... Grab the French press off the roof of my car.
I love that French press. It’s an absolute tank
Easy to clean
Have you tried pour over? I think it's superior in taste and in cleanup.
Durable stainless steel construction
Second for the Espro.
Filter parts has a lot of plastic though. That's too bad.
I love my metal press, but I like using it for high pressure aeropress pushes as I don’t trust bearing down on ceramic or glass with my full weight and the metal press can support me.
It's 100% metal and sturdy. Zero problems in 10 years.
Easy to clean and disassemble
I’m assuming that if I’m not buried with it, my daughter will inherit it.
It needs replaced but has been faithfully serving for over a decade.
It's currently $25, although I'd swear I paid like $15.
I loved it so much I got rid of all my other methods of brewing coffee, but then I got nervous about the glass.
Simple immersion brewing process
But yes, the super fine stuff that's inevitable will not be filtered by the mesh
Indestructible and durable construction
I like the Mueller stainless steel coffee press. It's like $30 and indestructible compared to the Bodum.
Good quality stainless steel
I really like it!

Can produce grounds in coffee if not used properly
You probably have to replace the screen, there should never be grounds in your cup from a french press.
That could make your coffee taste less than ideal, if you are storing the brewed coffee in there.
The plunger is not impermeable and the grounds are still wet.
Some find the coffee too thick
And she's more of a coffee person than I am.
Over-brewing concern with insulated presses
If you leave the coffee in the French press, meaning the insulated ones, does it not over-brew?

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Preference for less grit in coffee
I bought one recently and it makes a cup that's too clean for my taste.
Discussion about coffee grind consistency
there's no way to get consistent results so there will always be powder that gets through the filter.
Discussion about sourcing materials for French presses
Haven’t seen a thread on this topic in 3 years so thought I’d see if anyone has updated recommendations.
Even the metal parts of the fancy Harios are made in China.
My Hario French press and kettle say made in Japan?
the Hario seems to be made in Japan.
Preference for stainless steel over glass
Looking for a French Press without plastic
Although durability is a benefit, I also don't mind fragility.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about alternatives to glass presses
I like my espro P5
the Bodum Brazil is a great budget option and the Bodum Chambord is a bit fancier and more expensive
it sits on my counter 24/7 and looks really nice so there's that.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Comparison to other brands
Have you checked out Espro? Best French press pot.
Preference for using other brewing methods
The filters are cheap and last for ages.
A phin filter is like $10, and it's definitely the easiest way to get excellent coffee every time.
Seeking recommendations for better quality French presses
Good quality, long lasting French press? I’m looking for a better quality one but I don’t know what to look for.
Discussion about brewing coffee techniques
It's possible that over extraction could occur quickly, so the use of a thermal carafe to maintain the coffee's temperature would only be beneficial if you transfer the pressed coffee into it.
Well a typical French press only makes three or four cups worth of coffee at a time anyway, so that's not going to sit around all that long, especially if you're not the only coffee drinker in the house.
Discussion about comparing grinder quality
how do you think the quality might compare to other electric burr grinders in the $50-$150 price range?
I’ve been very satisfied with it. The only comparison I can make is to my colleague’s Krups and the Mueller is quieter, much nicer to look at.
Don’t waste your money. On top of being unreliable it grinds very little a time, the convenience settings don’t actually grind the same amount consistently, and it makes a huge mess every time you use it.
I got this grinder for my mother’s drip machine. I was impressed by the quality of the grind at both ends.
Recommendation for other brands
French Press Recommendation Giving up my Ikea French press. Filter not very good. Seeing different F
I've used it almost every day for the past year, besides when I'm using one of my other ones... Frieling or ESPRO, which are not cheap, but still like the Forlife slightly better for its overall value.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Brewing technique is more important than the press quality
Never once have I experienced any difference in taste between a cheap French press and an expensive one. Brewing technique is way more important.
Co-sign this. I have a cheap IKEA one and it brews perfectly. A friend of mine had a more fancy stainless steel one. No difference in taste, really.
Anyone have a French Press from Amazon to recommend? Could someone recommend a French Press coffee m
Any of them really. If you follow something like the James Hoffmann FP method really every FP is the same.
Preference for glass presses despite breakage
I've had a glass one for 25 years. I've broken the glass exactly twice, and I'm accident prone.
I like that I can see the color of the brew in my glass french press.
I'm super clumsy and I've had mine for 10 years. Still looks exactly the same.
Yeah glass is fine just handle with care.
Clumsiness leads to broken glass presses
Some of us are clumsy I guess. I’ve gone through at least 3 as well as a ceramic pour over in 10 years.
Cultural perceptions of French press usage
What’s kinda funny is here in the UK if you use a French press then everyone assumes you’re a coffee peasant who doesn’t know their shit.
Concerns about heating milk in the french press
Could I just warm the milk directly in the french press?
Much safer and will make it harder to burn the milk.
You’ll end up with milk solids stuck to the bottom and that is no good.
