What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Saves money compared to buying coffee daily
I can't tell you how much money this French press has saved me.
it’s sooo much better! If done right it’s so rich and smooth
Durable materials prevent breakage
Sure - that makes sense.
I think these moka pots are made out of 304 stainless, which is food industry safe (we make a lot of parts out of it for food industry) and won´t rust for long time under wet conditions... there is no way you´ll get rusty moka pot, if you use it even once per week
I finally figured out the trick to a GREAT moka pot coffee. You’ve gotta brew on low heat! This may be common knowledge but I’ve never given it much thought until recently.
Easy to clean and maintain
I’m assuming that if I’m not buried with it, my daughter will inherit it.
Have you tried pour over? I think it's superior in taste and in cleanup.
there's almost no cleanup, just eject the puck-o-grounds into the compost/trash.
No signs of rust or any issues with the metal components.
Produces rich and flavorful coffee
Love the combo. Drinking my coffee right now.
Well worth the effort, time, and money.
I just wanna make some good coffee at home
SO MUCH BETTER. Thanks for the tips.
Durable and unbreakable materials
If yours is like mine, it has the added benefit that it is heavy enough to use to defend your home against intruders, and have a piping hot cup of coffee ready for them when they eventually regain consciousness!
Yeah, I won't break it if I drop it, but I may break the floor haha!
It's all stainless steel and very thick.
Keeps water hot while brewing
I also like how it keeps the water hot when brewing, whereas heat escapes the water quickly in glass.
French press allows for controlled tea strength
Making tea with a French Press is an insult to all tea drinkers
How is a French Press wrong for that?

Glass versions are prone to breaking
Do you use more with a press yourself? Or maybe I just use too much idk.
that's the issue. Glass one = having to microwave coffee #2 of the day
I’ve gone through at least 4 glass ones. I finally got a metal one.
Doesn't metal dissipate heat hella fast
Plastic parts in filter may be undesirable
Filter parts has a lot of plastic though. That's too bad.
Can leave coffee grounds in the cup
You probably have to replace the screen, there should never be grounds in your cup from a french press.
You will always have fines in FP coffee, no matter how fine the mesh is.
Stainless is resistant to oxidation but not completely free of it. It stains less, if you will.
Difficult to achieve pleasant tasting subsequent infusions
the main problem with a french press is how difficult pleasant tasting subsequent infusions are to make.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Preference for stainless steel French presses over glass
I bought an insulated Stainless Steel FP that'll double as a thermos after pressing, it keeps coffee hot so well.
Love my stainless steel French press! Don't know why I bothered with glass all those years, it is such a no-brainer!
The plastic is lighter to travel with, cools down within 20-25 minutes to a drinkable level and transparent so you can see if your coffee needs dilution or something.
Sadly I can taste the steel.
Discussion on general French Press features and performance
Anyone have a French Press from Amazon to recommend? Could someone recommend a French Press coffee make from Amazon?
Any of them really. If you follow something like the James Hoffmann FP method really every FP is the same.
If I were buying one today, I'd get the Secura. While it probably works fine as intended, I wouldn't use the press.
I use a stainless thermal insulated press from Frieling. Keeps the coffee hot for about an hour.
Discussion about metal vs glass French presses
You made a wise choice getting a metal one, also.
Now I have a stainless one.
Does the metal effect the taste at all?
Discussion on insulated French presses
Double walled insulated French press recommendations please
Discussion on coffee filtration and grit levels
I bought one recently and it makes a cup that's too clean for my taste.
Grit and sediment make for poor coffee.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Making cold brew coffee with a French press
You can also use your French press to make AMAZING cold brew coffee.
Discussion about coffee preparation methods
Real slow. Like barely enough pressure to get it moving slow.
Pour over is the way to go. A phin filter is like $10, and it's definitely the easiest way to get excellent coffee every time.
That model is steel, not aluminium.
Preference for other coffee-making methods
And she's more of a coffee person than I am.
The Aeropress is by far the best way I’ve found for making coffee.

Discussing alternatives to RAINBEAN French Press
Not US made, but I love my Freling.
Would second the Freling if you want insulated.
I have an danish Bodum Caffetiera french press for ages. Works fine
I’ve had a stainless steel, double wall Coffee Gator brand French press for about 7 years now and it’s still going strong with daily use.
Discussion on taste differences between cheap and expensive French presses
Never once have I experienced any difference in taste between a cheap French press and an expensive one.
Brewing technique is way more important.
No difference in taste, really.
I can't drink coffee from a Yeti tumbler.
Preference for insulated stainless steel over glass
I was about to buy the Frieling ($80 on BBB with a discount), but saw some reviews that mentioned it a) makes a terrible sound when pressing down because metal scratches on metal and b) it collects coffee in the lid that's hard to clean.
Second for the Espro.
I've never had a French press leave less mud in the cup, and it keeps your coffee hot forever.
Mention of alternative French press options
I’m surprised no one has mentioned the [EsproPress](http://espro.ca/espro-press/) they run a bit more than a normal FrenchPress, but they filter the coffee via a basket system (with optional paper added).
Inquiry about better quality French presses
Good quality, long lasting French press? I use it for both tea and coffee.
I really like it!
a good friend recommended this one
Discussion on filter longevity and cleaning methods
a lot of the filters start to go bad in a few weeks.
I really like the Espro because you get the good taste of French press without the powder at the bottom of your mug.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about coffee loss in bottom of press
I've seen some reviews saying that you lose almost a cup of coffee in the bottom of the press.
Discussion on the perceived quality differences in French presses
I want to step it up and I have heard a lot of good about French presses.
They're all the same. Seriously.
Debate on coffee grounds disposal
it gets stuck with the fat down the drain creating a sort glob of fat that dosen't melt when hot water is applied so you end up with a stoppages that take about an hour using boiling water and about 10 bars of pressure to remove.
If you invest in a decent burr mill grinder (they start around 100 bucks) there will be significantly less to the point that most people won't notice or care.
