Not as good as a pair of $150 Leki or Black Diamonds, but quite awesome for the asking price.

Not sure what makes them “not as good” as the more expensive options.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Great value for the price
Not as good as a pair of $150 Leki or Black Diamonds, but quite awesome for the asking price.
These are hands down the best bang for your buck out there.
I own a quiver of trekking poles. The more I own, the more I appreciate the quality and value of these poles.
Once a while, I'll read some glowing review about some other brand of poles, either black diamond or the locus gear cp3 poles. Both retails for over 100$+ USD
Durable and long-lasting
Highly recommended.
Great quality for the price
Cascade mountain tech nailed it with these poles.
Haven’t looked this year, but they’re great quality and super lightweight.
Think I'll check out Costco.
Used exclusively for years and never had an issue.
Lightweight design
Cascade Mountain Tech pole rattle? I got these poles a little while ago and I like how they feel.
This worked beautifully for me … thank you so much!.
The poles are surprisingly quiet (I was worried about that because my older poles are loud with dual flick locks), extremely lighter than my last poles, and absolutely fit my kit perfect.
I just got the GG twist lock poles as a gift, but I'm not crazy about the locking mechanism (or the price).
Sturdy and reliable performance
Haha I can't tell you how happy I am to see someone with the exact same hangup on the same trekking poles, I ended up ultimately getting more expensive poles for this very reason.
Good budget option
Any experience with Cascade Mountain Tech Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles?
Yes. These are popular low budget trekking poles. Good buy.
Fairly cheap poles at Costco, on sale for $25 right now. Sale ends today though.
Cost-effective compared to higher-end brands
What are your thoughts on Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking poles for a thru hike? I seen good reviews
they perform as well as any other pole I've tried, and cost way less.
Functionality is reliable for long hikes
Both tips were worn down by the end of it, however the poles themselves were great.
Poles feel sturdy
The poles overall feel very sturdy.
Great introduction for beginners
Cascade Mountain seems to be a good intro brand for what I am looking for.
Durable cork quality
The cork seems to be decent quality.
Reliable performance after multiple miles
I’ve got the carbon/cork 3 section poles. They have about ~500miles on them with no issues
They are poles, they do pole things without worry or fuss. We would buy them again.
Highly recommended for performance and value
Shockingly awesome performance for $30
Great for various terrain
I'm going to test them out on a 4 day section of the AT starting Friday.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Not as good as higher-end brands
Not sure what makes them “not as good” as the more expensive options.
I like the BD poles better but the difference really isn't that big.
Avoid twist lock versions due to slipping
They're great for the price. Just avoid the twist lock versions as they're prone to slipping in comparison to the folding or flick/quick/flip lock models.
Can bend if tripped on
They're a good choice. I bent mine when I tripped and fell on one, but any aluminum pole would have bent in that case, and any carbon-fiber one would have splintered.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Experiences with different models and brands
Thanks. What are the measured diameters of the pole sections? I'm curious because smaller diameter poles are probably not as stable nor strong as larger diameter poles, but I am not sure about that.
Straps are so integral with the poles functionality I can't imagine the benefit of reduced weight outweighs their usefulness.
User inquires about wrist strap removal
Can the wrist straps be removed non-destructively?

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Comparison with expensive options
Probably difference in weight and rigidity I suppose
Availability in stores varies
I guess they determined there's no market for them around here, which is weird because even though it's not a place known for hiking it's also not like... flat as a pancake either.
I found these at Academy Sports today for 25.00.
Experiences with other brands
Used REI equipment for years but to expensive.
Price comparisons with other stores
A quick googling seems to show the aluminum version of the cascade mountain tech poles for $24 at Amazon and Walmart and Target.
User is considering other brands
Great review, I considered these but ended up with the Fizan Compact poles, which are 23 in when folded, since that is roughly the height of my pack and I plan to use them mostly to set up my tent.
Availability issues in stores
FWIW I have found precisely zero pairs of these poles in Costcos this year.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Difficulty in replacing tips
Has anyone ever been successful in replacing them on these particular poles?
Yep. Heat them up and they come right off.
This is exactly what I followed when I replaced my CMT carbon fiber trekking pole tips.
Thanks again! I thought I was going crazy since all the videos just showed them popping right off!
