Snoop's Take

The Foxelli Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles are designed to enhance your hiking experience by providing lightweight, durable, and shock-absorbent support. Weighing only 7.6 oz per pole, these trekking poles are made from 100% carbon fiber and are suitable for all terrains, featuring ergonomic cork grips and adjustable lever locks for convenience and comfort. Consumer feedback highlights the poles' lightweight design and effectiveness, with one user stating, "They’re great," while others appreciate the comfortable cork grips and overall performance on challenging hikes. Many reviewers recommend the poles for their stability and pacing benefits, noting that once they started using trekking poles, they will never go back. However, some concerns regarding durability and the need for gentle handling of carbon poles were mentioned by users, indicating that while they are effective, care is necessary. Overall, the Foxelli Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles are highly recommended for hikers and backpackers looking for reliable, lightweight gear that performs well across various terrains. Their positive user feedback and strong customer service reputation make them a solid choice in their category.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Lightweight and easy to carry
Only put ~90 miles on them so far but they seem great.
The best part is their handles are double height so you can adjust to slopes or log-walking without adjusting the pole.
I received an amazon gift card but I'm hesitant to buy any gear from them because I don't associate quality with amazon products unless they're from a brand I recognize, has anyone ordered any quality poles from them?
Cascade Mountain Tech carbon fiber with flip locks. I prefer the EVA grip, but cork is nice, too.
Good performance for hiking
They’re great.
I have used this brand and they work very well.
Customer service was great at replacing worn tips under warranty, too.
Some suggestions: Kompredell Carbon C3 Cloud, Locus Gear CP3 with the CP3 Joint, Diorite Poles.
Lightweight and portable design
As I understand the only difference is with the handles.
Good performance for challenging terrains
That's a serious trip, plus I imagine terrain will be challenging at times.
Good customer service regarding product repairs
The manufacturer (Foxelli on Amazon) ... sent me a new set, which I appreciated.
Durable and reliable for long-term use
I've got Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork poles that I've been using for 15 years and I absolutely love them.
Comfortable cork grips
100%. Cork is the most comfortable and flip lock is the easiest to use.
I look for cork handles and flip locks.
The entire tip, not just the metal wearing tip, of the cf one got caught in a rock and snapped off within a few days of buying them, although I highly suspect that was a combination of being unlucky and user error, ie entirely my fault for not noticing it got lodged between some rocks so I wont blame it on the poles.
Sturdy and reliable performance
I hike everywhere with mine and have put my full body weight on them when doing a “pole vault” over a small water crossing.
My Leki aluminum poles with cork handles and flip locks have lasted many years and thru hikes, and tent support...
Lightweight design
Weight and length are key factors.
Helps with stability and pacing
They do use your arms more - but that's less energy being used by your legs, so it's less fatiguing overall.
Once I started using trekking poles, I will never go back. I love how they help with the knees, stability, and pacing.
Once I hit my 40’s I found how much poles save my knees on the downhills... don’t need them so much going up.
my feet and knees hurt SIGNIFICANTLY less than without and as someone else said with the fingers swelling up

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Not the lightest option available
CMT poles are value kings (especially if you have Costco membership).
Durability concerns with cheaper options
Hope I'm not hitchhiking, but I'd be curious to know if they are any good for thru-hiking.
This is the way. If the failure was from the twist locks, consider Skurka's modification.
Replaced with BD and never looked back.
GREAT customer service and sticks you can trust.
Concerns over reliability of folding poles
I have never liked poles that fold as much as poles that don't. Possibly just me, but I've always found them less reliable.
Most poles are three piece to reduce shipping and airline issues/costs. Two piece poles have less points of failure, yet take a backseat in the market.
Need to handle carbon poles gently
Carbon is okay. But have to be a little more gentle with them.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Users have had good experiences with various brands, indicating a range of options available.
They're awesome enough that I'll order them to the hotel when I travel - cheap enough to use a few times and give to a local (you can't fly with poles).
Good price and you'll never need to buy more poles assuming you don't break one physically.
Flick-lock is better than twist.
Variety of opinions on suitable materials for trekking poles
Leki are the 🐐 poles. Ski poles and hiking poles.
Do you actually want to use trekking poles for hiking?

Discussion about the use of different trekking pole tips for various terrains
Different trekking pole tips for different terrain
Oh, so you're not supposed to just throw all of these away when you buy hiking poles? I kept the rubber tips, just to keep from being stabbed by the tungsten tips.
Rubber tips sound good in theory but the only time I ever tried to use them, the carbide tip just ended up ripping through them.
lets be honest the carbide tips have grip on everything, it might just destroy it in the process
Discussion on the use of trekking poles for various hiking scenarios
I've never used trekking poles or thought of using them before so I'd like some pros/cons discussion here.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Some users find it unnecessary to spend on high-end poles for less challenging hikes.
You don't need anything fancy but if you do go fancy, I like my black diamond poles.
Aluminum. Cheaper, tougher to snap, 2.5oz weight difference not noticeable while using or stashed.
Users compare various brands and experiences
They feel kind of cheap, but they've proven to be an excellent value.
The usual recommendation around here is Cascade mountain tech. They come with cork grips, are reasonably lightweight, take a look at the options on their website and then go find them for less elsewhere online.
Recommendations often favor value over performance
They’ve held up well.
Comparison of experiences with different trekking poles
No damage.
People really like the Cascade Mountain Tech ones.
User appreciation for Foxelli's other products
I absolutely love their rechargeable headlamps for less consequential stuff like use around the house, camping with the kids, etc.
Budget options are preferred for beginners
Budget trekking poles Looking to finally start using them but I don't want to break the bank until I've gotten used to using them on hikes.
The Cascade Mountain Tech carbon ones are great.
I use these as well and are great starter poles.
My husband and I both use the $20 cascade mountain ones from Amazon and they're just fine.
Users recommend investing in reputable brands like Black Diamond for reliability.
I know there's probably lots of brands, but from what I've seen, both Leki and Black Diamond seem get recommended often.
Their Distance Carbon series is a great pair. They make cork and foam handles and both were good at absorbing rain water off my hands during storms.
Black Diamond is obviously a reputable brand, all their stuff is at least good, especially for the price range.
Some users find cheaper options acceptable for less challenging hikes.
They do not vibrate like the other ones did, and are holding up well so far.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Trekking poles are beneficial for knees, especially when descending.
Poles indeed are amazing for the knees and descending!
With the distance and type of hiking you're doing, almost any pair will be helpful.
Users share experiences with different brands, highlighting reliability and durability.
Super light weight!
I've found aluminum is more forgiving when bending and seen carbon fiber poles snap with the slightest bend when caught in rocks.
My BD Carbon Cork lasted over 1000 miles and the tips wore out every 200 miles it seemed
They were a month old and normal usage.
