Snoop's Take

Covacure Hiking Poles are collapsible trekking poles made from durable Aircraft Grade 7075 Aluminum Alloy, designed to enhance your hiking experience. With a telescopic and foldable tri-fold design, these poles can be easily adjusted to fit your height and conveniently stored in your backpack when not in use. Users rave about their lightweight construction and ergonomic grips, with one noting, "they take a *lot* of stress off of your leg joints," making them essential for both uphill and downhill hikes. Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding stability, comfort, and reduced knee strain, these trekking poles are highly recommended for anyone looking to enhance their hiking capabilities.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Improves hiking speed and stability
I find I hike faster with poles, both on trail (because of the extra propulsion), and off trail (extra stability).
Once I started using trekking poles, I will never go back. I love how they help with the knees, stability, and pacing.
Those trekking poles will help with that!
I'm a few hundred miles in on them, and they're still solid.
Reduces knee strain
Once I hit my 40’s I found how much poles save my knees on the downhills... don’t need them so much going up.
Only 23 minutes since you posted I would like to know if you are sold
Lightweight and easy to carry
Best trekking poles? Looking to get my first pair of trekking poles, what do folks like? Should I just grab any pair of Amazon or is there a type I really need?
Are these any good? And are they heavy?
It turns a very lightweight chair, around one pound, into a heavier chair.
Durable construction with aluminum alloy
I love my Cascade Mtn Tech poles! Both have been great for me, so comfortable and I’ve had no issues.
Ergonomic grips for comfort
Same. I love mine, cork also.
Even with the cork CMT, I find the BD Ergonomic cork handle a lot more comfortable.
Reduces stress on leg joints
they take a *lot* of stress off of your leg joints.
I'm going as a 40 y/o adult in 26 and taking them, partly because my knees will thank me.
Loved using my trekking poles and consider them essential.
Improves stability and balance
They help you stand upright on the steep inclines. Better balance and breathing.
They help with stability, tent poles (if your tent is compatible), first aid, and make you a more efficient hiker.
Helps on downhill hikes
Helps on the downhills. And all the old folks I see hiking use trekking poles.
Provides more control when hiking with a pack
Much more control and ability.
Invaluable for crossing obstacles with heavy packs
Invaluable for crossing deadfall with a heavy pack. Like having extra legs
Beneficial on uphill and downhill hikes
They are very beneficial on uphills, and most particularly downhills.
They’re so underrated on descending! Downhill walking and running is largely an eccentric exercise and is incredibly demanding on the basic mechanics of our muscle fibres (sliding filament model).
Improves efficiency and posture on flat terrain
Poles are like turbo boosters. At the very least they make you more efficient with how you walk, and take a lot of the workload away from your legs.
They really help me with form: getting my posture right, extending my gait, getting a good pace.
On flattish ground, they are amazing at propelling you along.
Improves gait and stability post-surgery
Trekking poles are the best. I used them on a cruise before my surgery and was able to get around well.
My PT said trekking poles set to the correct length are much better than a cane to keep a more normal gait.
Provides a sense of security during longer walks
It’s like insurance - if you have them you likely won’t need them, but great to have if you do!

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Difference in locking mechanisms
the most noticeable difference is the locking mechanism.
Only noticeable difference is the locking mechanism. Performance is equal between them and the CMT poles are much less expensive.
the difference is going to be finish, quality of raw materials used (think grade of aluminum/carbon), ergonomics, quality control, post purchase support.
It puts the lotion in the basket ...... Actually, in this case, it puts the basket on the pole.
Preference for materials varies by activity
Aluminum alloy poles like the Black Diamond Expedition 3 are great for skiing and also hiking/trekking but they're a bit heavier than carbon fiber.
Discussion on twist vs flick lock mechanisms
People report that the twist locks are prone to slipping, and are unreliable, but I haven't had those experiences.
My twist lock Leki have gone through 2 sets of tips and are still humming along.
I find the flick locks to be easier to use.
I've used both for years and twist-locks are the only ones I've ever had slip on me — although even that wasn't a common problem.

Costco has the CMT Carbon Fiber trekking poles for $25.
How Beneficial are Trekking Poles? I’m wondering if it would be worth it to invest in some trekking poles prior to a trip I’m taking in September.
Keep in mind your trekking poles can also be used as your poles for your tent and other things.
What is this thing? It came with a trekking stick I’d look it up myself, but the pole I bought is in Hebrew.
Different uses for trekking poles including as a cane
really enjoy its versatility. my buddy said if i was thru hiking the at he’d name me pimpstick.
This item is sold as each not as a pair by REI. It’s intended use is as a staff and can be used as a cane.
