They’re great.

Positive Feedback

My ideal pole would be 2-piece with rubber grips, lightweight carbon upper, cheaply replaceable and durable aluminum lower, carbide teeth and a 1inch radius wide basket.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Effective for hiking
They’re great.
I have used this brand and they work very well.
I decided to get myself a pair, after some initial research as a UL-minded person I narrowed my search towards poles that goes under 200g per pole, have a twist lock for being less bulky.
I've got Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork poles that I've been using for 15 years and I absolutely love them.
Durable and sturdy construction
I just always use the metal tip for everything
I don't really notice the weight difference in poles between cf and Al when hiking
The flick lock system of the CP3 is far superior to the twist lock mechanism in my opinion.
Good durability and reliability of trekking poles
For only 30ish more dollars you can get some at REI that will be much more reliable and last you for years of repeated use!
I would not trust Trekology. I bought a chair from them and one of the legs attachment point snapped
Lightweight design for hiking
Remains to be seen how they hold up but they seem identical to the Cascade Designs ones
Are these any good? And are they heavy?
Comfortable cork grip handles
Ok I also prefer lever locks but they are going to be heavier and more expensive than twist locks for good ones.
Same. I love mine, cork also.
Provides support and stability on uneven terrain
Absolutely do so.
I used my poles everyday and was grateful to have them for those particular descents along with the trek down into Molinaseca after the cruz de ferro.
Reduces strain on knees and joints
Poles help with the swelling in your hands!
The full Camino Frances is about one MILLION steps. You will misstep on at least one of those.
Lightweight for easy carrying
Poles will definitely help with the elevation. If they are lightweight I definitely recommend.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Not the lightest option
My ideal pole would be 2-piece with rubber grips, lightweight carbon upper, cheaply replaceable and durable aluminum lower, carbide teeth and a 1inch radius wide basket.
Rubber tips sound good in theory but the only time I ever tried to use them, the carbide tip just ended up ripping through them.
Issues with locking mechanisms
I hated the locking mechanism on them but I keep them for one reason: they’re the easiest trekking poles to travel via airplane with because they fold.
The spin ones eventually wore out and slipped on me.
Only hesitation I have is not lever lock, those twist locks can stick.
look in reviews.2018, maybe they fixed that...but it's a known issue.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about various trekking pole tips
Oh, so you're not supposed to just throw all of these away when you buy hiking poles? I kept the rubber tips, just to keep from being stabbed by the tungsten tips.
I use rubber if I'm ever walking on anything paved or any concrete, just so I don't scratch it up
I managed to wear the mono price poles down to plastic nubs in less than 500 miles. Was planning on replacing the tips but a lower section snapped. Replaced with BD and never looked back.
Comments about pole weight and balance
They are feather light, and good for balance, but vibrate when I put any sore of weight on them.
Discussion about carbon fiber vs. aluminum poles
No worries :)
Amazing thanks will take a look!

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about decorating trekking poles
It's plain black and looks boring. Does anyone have any ideas on how to decorate it?
Personal experiences with trekking pole usage
I've had mine going on 6 years now used over 1000's of miles on foot and also been using them bike packing.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Comparison with other brands
the cheaper poles made with good materials do a decent job.
I saw cork-handled fiberglass collapsible trekking poles at Costco for maybe $50.
They’ve held up well.
Carbon fiber pole with cork handles. Only put ~90 miles on them so far but they seem great.
Discussion about various trekking pole lengths and adjustments
any "off brands" i might be missing out on (i've looked mostly at bd, leki, and komperdell)?
durston's poles have great specs
i absolutely love my locusgear cp3 trekking poles. insanely light and way more sturdy than they have any right to be.
i have been quite pleased with my paria outdoors carbon poles.
Comments on budget-friendly trekking poles
They do the job and should last 1000kms depending on how hard you are on them
Discussion about personal preferences for trekking poles
Especially in hot environments.
Discussion about preferences for pole types (folding vs quick lock)
Thanks, I'm outside US, but those are quite affordable on amazon as well.
so /u/UiPossumJenkins probably has a better take on which locking system is better.
Concerns over budget options for trekking poles
Are they durable? What else would you recommend under $40-50?
Cascade Mountain Tech carbon ones are pretty cheap and have generally favorable reviews.
Seeking recommendations for trekking poles
Best trekking poles? Looking to get my first pair of trekking poles, what do folks like?
Discussion about price and budget options
BUT I've heard good reviews about the Karrimor Carbon poles (Sports Direct tho, customer service is even worse, they tried to sell me a pair once that were missing equipment full price hence going for he Craghoppers), and the TheFitLife poles.
Doubt you will find quality lightweight lever lock poles under £50. You may need to budge on one of these.
Discussion about pricing of trekking poles
Costco has the CMT Carbon Fiber trekking poles for $25.
I've been on the fence on grabbing a pair and saw them today for the price so I did.
Discussion about the necessity of hiking poles for long treks
Thanks for the replies 🙏🫂
Discussion on budget trekking poles
Cascade Mountain Tech poles for $40 but be prepared to replace the lower sections at least once as the steel is pretty soft.
If you want cheap and durable try to find a pair of the Fizan compact trekking poles.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about testing different trekking poles
you have to test them out before your big hike; you will find people that swear by the daintier poles and others that hate them.
The running poles are extremely light, but I prefer adjustable poles for storage and tent set up.
