What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Easy to clean ceramic coating
Our ceramic coated and solid ceramic bowls have nothing that would come off into your rice and even if it did all it is composed off is silica / sand with oxygen compressed to a non stick finish (solgel process).
I do essentially the same thing. Perfect rice every time.
So I'm genuinely curious, are they really worth that price tag? Would it make your rice taste better?
imo rice is best cooked anywhere as long as it’s not on the stove, but if that’s convenient, that’s not a bad option either.
Healthy cooking with toxin-free materials
I'm a consumer who is completely opposed to all the forever chemicals used in kitchen appliances including rice cookers.
A rice cooker is safe, it is temperature controlled and unlikely to be scratched or damaged like a pan.
And the rice cooker doesn't get so hot that it releases toxins in the air.
I know how to make rice in the IP or on the stove, I would love a dedicated machine with a small space footprint and nice aesthetics.
Perfect rice cooking with presets
Once the cooker switch to warm I unplug and cover the top with a towel to keep vapor in. In about 20-25 minutes, it's ready to eat and NO STICKING
You have to turn it off right away or it will brown. This is my main reason to get it- perfect rice waiting for me on the keep warm setting for hours.
This thing is my personal chef 😂, It waits on me. Get it for your wife, she'll be happy (if she's not keto).
Convenient for daily use
I eat rice most days, so being able to throw it in the cooker with some water, then have it maintain temperature and keep it tasting fresh (for up to 24 hours!) is super helpful and convenient for me.
Yeah this is a good one. I bought my parents this one and yes going 3 years strong.
Most rice cookers do not use pressure cooking. Only the top of the line rice cooker models offer pressure cooking.
Cooks rice perfectly with presets
It automatically goes to the right temperature for rice because that is what is made for.
Cooking with coconut milk or chicken broth still comes out perfect every time, it just perfects rice no matter what.
Easy to clean
Yes, it is the MVP of my house. I would give up my dish washer before I gave up my rice cooker.
Keeps rice warm without overcooking
that when it is done it just keeps it warm without further over cooking and you lose much less steam.
really enjoy being able to program the cooking and keeping it warm automatically afterwards.
Delay timer feature is useful
I can set it to cook later and keep warm cause I cook and eat rice daily, that’s a cool feature
Compact size suitable for small households
It is small though (but perfect for our 2 person household).
Healthy ceramic nonstick coating
Simple rice cooker with ceramic coated (no teflon) bowl?
Easy to use and makes good rice
I love, love, love my fuzzy logic rice cooker.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Rice can stick if not cooked properly
rice will still turn brown if I don't use enough water, but it's much easier to clean.
a sealed unit rice cooker cooking rice in a stainless steel pot.
it is plenty hot an hour later.
Concerns about longevity of non-stick coatings
Has your team tested a cool-down period after cooking that would allow the rice to naturally release from the metal?
I wanted a stainless steel one (not ceramic, not low quality coating) to replace it.
Concerns about rice cookers being a 'unitasker'
the instapot is consistent and easy enough to use that i won't ever be in the market for a device that only does one thing.
Concern over rice sticking if not cooked properly
cleanup is super easy.
Rice can turn out mushy or dry
i’ve tried cooking rice in an instant pot and it doesn’t come out quite the same (too soft/mushy on the bottom and too hard/dry on the top). 😕
I didn’t like the way my instapot cooked rice. I got rid of it and went back to a $30 rice cooker.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.

I'm sick of ceramic and nonstick coatings scratching off everywhere, and I simply don't want to have to worry about it.
We always advise to stay away from stainless steel inner bowls without any non stick surface application for rice cookers.

Discussion about preferences for ceramic vs. other materials
Im very satisfied with my Elite Gourmet cooker, though it is stainless steel rather than ceramic.
Discussion on rice cookers with non-stick coatings and alternatives
Every single pot I can find either has a non-stick coating, or is far out of my price range, and the market for rice cookers is huge and confusing.
Not sure if it meets your size requirement or if it can be technically labeled as a rice cooke, but instant pots use stainless steel pots.
A regular stainless steel pot that goes on your stovetop can make perfect rice using the absorption method.
I have the YumAsian Panda rice cooker and love it. Easily makes 1 cup of rice, good for 2 people for the day or 1/2 cup if just me, and has a ceramic bowl.

Discussion on mini rice cookers for single servings
What is the best mini rice cooker for one person? I donr have a lot of space in my kitchen, for one and i want one that makes enough for one person.
I like them both, for one person I would probably go with the kambrook, it not as study as the other one and one of the latches on the top broke after 2 years of heavy use.
I had an aroma for years. Grab a little steam basket and you can toss a few veggies or a small filet in it too.
If space is at such a premium you want as few specific use items as possible. So think about if you really need a rice cooker, or maybe you are better of with a pot, or a small multi-cooker instead.
