What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Great entry-level ice cream maker for beginners
I have this model for the price, it is a great entry to ice cream making.
Commercial soft ice cream machine for home use Is there something that can accomplish exactly this but without paying 10 000$ on a taylor machine?
I’m looking for an ice cream maker, primarily to make coconut milk ice cream and dairy-free sorbets.
I got a Creami and I love it. It’s perfect for my purpose.
Easy to use for beginners
It’s very easy to use and it works.
Just pour in my base and delicious ice cream in about 35 minutes.
Great for making custard-style ice cream
Creamy, rich, and amazing!!
Literally just used my ice cream maker for the first time and we went the cooked custard route! Oreo mint!
IMO that's the only way to go. You see a lot of recipes for quick/easy ice cream....it really shows in the end product when you take those shortcuts.
Easy to make a variety of flavors
Once you get a basic base, the sky is the limit.
Return pot to medium-low heat and gently cook until mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
Home-made ice cream is a game changer
solid advice here. home made ice cream is a game changer.
Favorite small appliance for making various recipes
I have the Elite Gourmet and love it! It is my favorite small appliance!
I have the elite gourmet and it’s been flawless so far.
Great for making frozen yogurt
I am now down to my last option which is to buy a commercial soft serve mix.
Mix up the dry ingredients in a bowl. Heat up the cream in a pan up to 60°C, add in the dry ingredients and mix really well.
Easy to customize flavors
Not really, it's just enough lemon to accentuate the acidity of the yogurt.
Easy to make healthy ice cream
Totally worth the hype and price IMO. It’s amazing.
I can eat healthy and still enjoy it.
this has been super helpful getting a treat and not feeling deprived at all!
Versatile for various recipes
I make deluxe pints, so you’ll have to adjust slightly for regular ones if that’s what you use, but for this recipe I used 1 1/2 fairlife chocolate protein shakes, tsp vanilla extract, pinch of salt, and 1.5 tbsp Splenda.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Calibration issues with ice cream placement
Ice cream machine that never puts sticks right
It‘s even the same side, it‘s left, right, left, right…
It’s probably not calibrated correctly
Yup, the treats are coming down in pairs. Sticky is consistent.
Inconsistent spacing of ice cream sticks
It actually looks like the ice creams aren't lined up consistently
Way easier to just change the stick rate to a faster speed. Done easy.
Too far apart. Or the machine hasn't been calibrated correctly
It's not the sticks that aren't right. It's the ice cream.
Limited to making only 2 batches a day due to freezer bowl constraints
The only somewhat frustrated thing is that I am limited to making only 2 batches a day because I only have 2 freezer bowls.
Soft serve texture not achievable
It'll get rock hard. Soft serve is meant to be served at around -7° C.
Homemade yogurt may alter flavor
Have you tried using your own, homemade yogurt in the mix? I let mine process for about 30 hours and it's much more tart than store bought.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on sugar's effect on ice cream texture
Is there anything I should change or add to make this more creamy?
sugar, you need more sugar to prevent the formation of ice crystals.
there is ice cream without sugar. It's just a frozen dessert without sugar, the texture will be all off.
allulose is a good sugar replacement and doesn’t make the ice cream too hard or icy.
Discussion about the evolution of ice cream makers
So yea, there really isnt much to improve there.
Concerns about batch size and dasher functionality
I think 4 quarts is too much, and you may run into problems with the dasher if you were to do 1qt batches.
Discussion about various ice cream makers and their features
Good, simple ice cream maker I don't want anything crazy.
Best ice cream I ever had!
It has a compressor, so you don't have to have 48+hours of foresight to freeze the bowl.
Takes about 15-20 minutes. We scrape it out into a container and leave in the freezer for a few hours.
Cooling mixture enhances flavor and texture
I honestly haven't noticed any difference in results.
Cooling it overnight in the fridge not only brings the temp down so it can freeze quicker and make smaller ice crystals, it also lets the flavors meld and mature a bit.
I find the flavor is much better.
a classic vanilla is not as good as it would have been chillin overnight in the fridge!

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about ice cream recipes and techniques
I was gifted an ice cream maker! I can’t wait to use it... but I don’t know what recipes to try.
Getting it cold as quickly as possible will help reduce the amount and growth of pathogens.
would something like adding mountain dew or monster or redbull ruin this recipe
Curiosity about soft serve ice cream making
I've always wondered how they make it.
Discussion about unique ice cream flavors
I've had old bay ice cream, caramel is good but vanilla it's just weird
Discussion about keto ice cream recipes
Getting tired of paying $5+ per pint.
I have the best recipe:
Adding some alcohol to retard the freezing somewhat might have worked but I don't drink.
Use allulose as your sweetener to allow it to be scoopable.
Discussion about real fruit ice creams
The machines would mulch ice cream and real fruit and the ice creams were delicious.
Thank you. That's a great lead.
Discussion about tart flavors in homemade yogurt
Does this end up tasting really tart?

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion on choosing the right ice cream maker for families
Best home ice cream maker? Hey guys! I'm looking at all the ice cream makers and feeling overwhelmed with choices...what is the best machine for a newbie with kids? Thaaaanks!
Mention of alternative models being popular
Agreeing with the others that the Cuisinart ICE-21 (or even ICE-20) is a great place to start.
Discussion on ice cream maker alternatives
I had such good results with the Creami, I stopped making ice cream since I had pretty much reached the goal.
Comparison of ice cream makers and their effectiveness
The GREAT thing about the ice bucket system is if it’s a hot day, you can just add more ice.
As a general rule, Nostalgia products are crap.
Mention of alternative ice cream makers
Look into the Ninja Creami.
Exploration of recipe adjustments for different loaf sizes
Oh, the recipe I gave you is for a 2lb loaf. You will need to make the adjustment on the machine.
Mention of expensive machines for real fruit ice cream
If you look up real fruit ice cream New Zealand the machine show up, fairly expensive
Discussion on affordable ice cream maker options
Instead of buying something high, I will get something more affordable and if I use it consistently and feel the need after a year I’ll get a nicer one.
Have you checked local thrift shops? I see bread machines there often, sometimes apparently unused with the stickers still in place.
I’ve had the Hamilton Beach one for a couple of years and I’m very pleased with it.
Oster ExpressBake - I love mine. It's been going strong for 13 years and it always gets the job done.
Comparison of ice cream making efficiency between Kitchenaid and standalone machines
No need.
References to recommendations for ice cream makers
Honestly, I'd go look at Wirecutter, which is where we found our Cuisinart recommendation 2 years ago (they do update):
Discussion on the affordability and usage of ice cream makers
my ice cream maker was tens of dollars.
Discussion on finding a good ice cream maker for families
I’m really wanting to find an ice cream maker to use at home for my family.
Comparison of ice cream makers with built-in compressors versus traditional methods
Believe it or not, unless you have an unlimited budget, your best bet is gonna be the [inexpensive old fashioned ones](https://www.walmart.com/ip/837006599) that you chill down with ice and salt.
Discussion about availability of other ice cream makers
You’re very fortunate to have your Creami! They’re sold out everywhere.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about the mechanism's design and issues
Ruining the Twisters!!!
Its likely there are two extruders further up the line and they got placed too close together after maintenance. That would cause the Left then Right alternation. Funny how the little things matter 🤣
I reckon it’s more like the ice creams are not placed right by the previous stage. They’re all over the place.
There really isn't a strong model below 5kish in the "commercial" grade. I wound up spending 13k on a three flavor unit.
Mention of the need for built-in compressor for continuous use
Most domestic machines have a fixed (or close to fixed) overrun, which is kind of annoying but there's not much you can do about it.
Philosophical debate on ice cream definitions
Call me a bigot but I can’t consider the creami ‘ice cream’.
I'm curious about results. Especially since the Pacojet has been a standard in upscale commercial kitchens for decades.
Discussion about ice cream makers in warm climates
the sweet spot I found was the Nostalgia dark oak 4-quart machine since I figured salt and ice are cheap, very accessible, and most importantly: putting the 2 together will result in temperatures I can work with and control via the amount of salt.
I've been using it for the last two years and made ice cream through summer where it does get warmer.
Discussion on the durability of ice cream maker parts with frequent use
We've been able to adapt our preferences, add-ins and thicker consistency to the Cuisinart, whereas with the mixer attachment we've had to figure out how to get the consistency (after the fact) or actually add stuff in, based on the recipe vs what the machine does.
Mention of the Kitchenaid attachment's messiness and difficulty
It also takes a good bit of forethought to pre-freeze the bowl and stuff.
The kitchenaid is a bit of a mess to use.
