What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Helps alleviate chronic pain
the problems seem to be less severe.
Wonder if that would be the best of both worlds?
Love his stuff, especially his Westside workouts
I have learned to love the roller.
Improves recovery post-workout
I’d say if stretching/foam rolling improves that sore feeling even 6%, sometimes it is worthwhile.
Multiple professionals have instructed me to roll my IT band.
Ideal for balance and strengthening exercises
Hi! I’m hoping to start doing the foam rolling classes but have no clue which foam roller to get.
It’s pretty cheap and goes on sale or has a coupon pretty often.
I’ve been staring at it for 30 minutes, three times a day, trying to engage it in conversation, and that doesn’t seem to provide the results I’m looking for, so I think it’s time to try another program.
Helps alleviate tightness before training
I do not fully agree that foam rolling is worthless... as an athlete it is saving me.
Helps unlock tight muscles before running
I use a foam roller after my long weekend runs, and sometimes just for a few seconds to unlock a knot before I go for a run.
Best used to enhance recovery after workouts
Starrett recommended using foam rolling for mobility/recovery periods.
foam rolling can enhance recovery after DOMS and alleviate muscle tenderness.
I've only heard of people doing it after when running.
I use it as a way to cool down and stretch after a work out or when I'm not working out.
Helps alleviate tightness in the back
Feels **GREAT** and pops my back.
Provides relief from muscle tension after a long day
I foam roll every single night and it is honestly one of the best things I've ever done for myself.
Effective for rolling and stretching exercises
It's great for what you want to use it for.
Effective for trigger point therapy
Very very very worth the money.
Foam rolling is beneficial for warm-up routines
Foam roll before workout, static stretch after
foam roll and dynamic stretch to warm up and if you want foam roll and static stretch to warm down. Foam rolling has its place both I the warm up and Cool down, I would always foam roll targeted areas to warm up the more dynamic on areas which I'm working out. and static stretch at the end. If you want to combine static stretching and foam rolling I would stretch then foam roll.
foam roll before and after, static after, dynamic before
Effective for resolving chronic pain
> 1 day, ONE DAY of foam rolling and my month long problem was resolved.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Does not significantly impact muscle stiffness
This isn’t really accurate.
It’s almost entirely the latter that has any good evidence to support it, and when you do it, it’s amazing.
Not durable under heavy weights
Eva foam mats are shit. Deadlifting with almost any amount of weight will destroy them on the first go.
